Government Relations
Welcome to the CIOMA Government Relations portal. Representing CIOMA members before the wide variety of legislative and regulatory bodies in this state is a key membership motivation and advantage. With two retained lobbyists (Deborah Mattos and Denise Duncan, Mattos & Associates), general counsel (Rusty Rinehart, Rinehart Law Offices), and a full-time government relations staff, CIOMA is prepared to fight the good fight for you!
In the pages throughout this section you will find information regarding all aspects of how government interacts with your company, customers, and employees. The pages also provide important information on how YOU can more effectively communicate with officials and provide the essential “roots” to our effective grass roots efforts. Remember, in the end, “all politics is local”.
This area of the web site is broken down into several key sub-areas:
Legislation – providing key information on CIOMA hot legislation and issues, alerts, how to communicate with your legislative representatives and essential legislative web links.
Regulations – providing hot regulatory topics, valuable compliance information & deadlines, how to communicate, and essential regulatory agency links.
CIOMPAC – offering useful information on the do’s and don’ts of political contributions, highlighting events and activities organized to help us maintain a respectable campaign contribution fund and noting those who have generously contributed throughout the year.
Government Relations Committee – giving useful information about the only standing, issue-related committee in the CIOMA organizational structure, including meeting dates/locations, meeting materials, committee leadership and activities.
PMAA – information about and links to our national association, the Petroleum Marketers of America; you become a member when you pay your annual dues to CIOMA!
Retail Site – in the coming year we will begin populating a web location focusing specifically on issues related to convenience store operators, including hot state issues and initiatives.
We maintain a very active presence in a wide span of issues, laws and regulations. Click below for a summary of some of our past accomplishments.
