About Chris Ballas
In 1997 Chris was part of the team that founded IQ Data Systems, one of the first public record data aggregators to bring skip tracing and online record searching to the web. Originally providing information to investigators, attorneys and corporate security departments, IQ Data soon launched an online corporate background screening solution, Backgrounds Online (BGO).
In 2001 Chris took over as CEO and has been directing the company ever since. For the past 17 years Backgrounds Online has been an active leader in the background check space; developing solutions to streamline and improve the applicant screening experience while dynamically handling ever-changing compliance and security requirements. Chris also led BGO through the certified accreditation process of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners.
With 20+ years of experience in the industry, Chris continues to play an active role in promoting a fair and transparent screening process for both companies and applicants, including participating in various legislative activities.
